Each of our rooms has a unique design and is equipped to a high standard. You can choose to make your morning cup of coffee in your room, or to join us for a Karelian breakfast and enjoy it in our breakfast room. Our facilities and services make both options possible.
The true Lietsu spirit will guarantee a relaxing stay with us, right in the heart of Joensuu city centre in Eastern Finland. Just kick off your shoes, sit back and close your eyes. Listen to the stories from deep North Karelian forests, the busy market town by the river, and the melancholy Kalevala notes. Immerse yourself in the Lietsu atmosphere and let the stories guide you.
The decorative details in each room tell stories about local history, culture and nature. The room names have their roots in the Karelian language and dialects.

Boutique Aparthotel Lietsu has 30 double rooms and one smaller, single room. Two of the rooms have wheelchair access. Some of the rooms can be combined to make a larger space for example for a family stay. All the rooms have their own kitchen and bathroom and are equipped with air conditioning and heating. Our hotel doors are secured by code locks. All the rooms include the following facilities:
- cooktop, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and laundry machine
- coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster and hairdryer
- basic set of pots, pans and tableware for cooking and dining
- starter pack of detergent for laundry and dishwasher
- possibility for ironing (please request for this in the reception)
Start your day with a delicious Karelian breakfast! Our products come from local producers and bakeries, including fresh berries and juices, tasty Karelian pasties, fish and vegetables.
Arriving at the hotel late at night and feeling hungry, or perhaps you need an evening snack for the whole family? Order a delicious snack and it will be delivered to your room. Just let us know your wishes beforehand and leave the rest to us!
Rooms are available for the customers from 16:00 on the day of arrival and they must be vacated by 11:00 noon on the day of departure. All customers are required to fill in and sign the accommodation cards for official use by authorities. This must be done electronically before arriving at the hotel, or at hotel check-in.
Cleaning and services
The rates include the use of domestic appliances, dishes and utensils in the rooms, toilet paper, bed linen, towels and basic soaps.
The rate includes the final cleaning of the room. The rooms are cleaned during the accommodation period only if the reservation has been made for more than four consecutive days, in which case a basic cleaning is done every four days, or as agreed. The hotel provides the rooms with new toilet paper daily.
Extra beds and family packages
A baby cot is available to all rooms for free. A child under 12 years can also sleep in the room beds accompanied by adults. For some of the rooms you may also book a junior bed as an extra service (15 € per day). The availability of the junior beds or baby cots may be limited. See also our campaigns for families.
Some of our rooms can be combined into larger apartments. Please request the option from our reception.
In case of any animal allergies, we are able to provide you a room, which has never been occupied by any pets. As the availability of allergy rooms is limited, please remember to mention your preference for an allergy room when making your reservation. The detergents used to clean the rooms and textiles are odorless – only the dish washing detergent is scented and may be replaced on request.
Our hotel and apartment rooms are secured by code door locks, which enables your arrival independently also outside the service hours. When your reservation is prepaid or guaranteed by a credit card, you will get the door code directly to your e-mail after a completed check-in on our internet service. Otherwise, the door code will be given to you at the reception upon arrival.
Terms and conditions of payment and cancellation
The terms of payment and cancellation are described separately alongside each reservation. In most cases the payment policy is payment at hotel upon check-in (confirmation with a credit card when booking) or prepayment, and cancellation policy is free cancellation 24h before arrival or non-refundable. Customers can make changes to or cancel their reservations according to the terms set by the booking channel or rate reserved, done via the same channel originally used for making the reservation.

The hotel accepts most common credit cards and cash (euros). If the reservation has not been paid for beforehand, payment must be made in cash or by payment card at the hotel. The hotel issues bills only to companies with a valid agreement with the hotel.
